Vitulus Shiraz 2020
The Vitulus 20 displays a dark ruby colour, with aromas of fresh red fruits such as juicy plum and cranberry, followed by subtle touches of forest floor. The palate presents fresh red cherry and juicy plum, complemented by hints of black pepper spice. Fine-grained tannins and subtle toasted oak create a layered wine with length and persistence.
"On skins for 15 days, matured for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak. Gorgeous. Oak is evident, but the fruit has so much exuberant concentration that it hardly matters. This is a deeply satisfying rendition of Coonawarra shiraz. The brightness of the fruit is almost addictive, and very attractive. Hedonistic, but classy."
Erin Larkin, Halliday
"The details for the Vitulus Shiraz are almost identical to those of the Bull Trader, with the exception that this single Coonawarra vineyard was planted thirty years ago, not 35. For me, the pick of the latest set of releases from this winery. Loved it. Dark maroon in colour, there are touches of dried herbs, garden notes and red cherries on the nose. Even a hint of stonefruit, as though there was a dollop of Viognier included (there is not, as far as I am aware). Chocolate and leather round things out. Good intensity and serious length here, perhaps more so than in any of the other current releases. Good balance and some early complexity. A seriously good Coonawarra Shiraz with a decade ahead of it."

"Wonderfully structured and engaging, the wine shows blackberry, spicy oak, cumin, thyme and game notes on the nose, followed by a refined palate that's beautifully weighted and persistent. It's plump and generously textured with a lengthy delectable finish."
