Paternus Shiraz
The Paternus Shiraz presents a deep garnet-red colour. On the nose, the aromas are elegantly structured with notes of red forest berries followed by fine spices. The palate imparts plentiful fruit with characters of blackberry, cherry and plum, followed by hints of pepper spice. The depth and length displayed by the wine is beautifully balanced by medium acidity and finely structured tannins.
Old vines, Blewitt Springs, sand over clay. Small batch ferment, 15 days skin contact. Individual batches pressed to oak, 18 months maturation, blended, additional 6 months oak maturation prior to bottling.
Region: McLaren Vale, South Australia
Varietal: Shiraz
Vintage: 2018
Analysis: Alcohol 14.5%
Reviewer's words
"This is a massive wine, just massive, decadent, bold and built to last. Deeply coloured, it explodes with blackberry, licorice and tarry fruits with coffee grounds oak. The palate is then bold and dense with lashings of dark fruit which are nicely lifted by spice and earth before a long and strong finish. Impressive and worth keeping some in the cellar to enjoy over the next decade."
Angus Hughson, Winepilot
"Gloriously rich and complex, showing blackberry, dark cocoa, cedary oak and mixed spice aromas, it's sumptuous and powerful with stunning fruit intensity backed by velvety texture and supple tannins. Mouthfilling and delectably appealing."
