Reschke Cavalcade Cabernet Sauvignon
The Reschke family first settled in the Coonawarra district in 1906, establishing themselves as prime Hereford Graziers. In 1989 Burke Reschke, fourth generation in the family decided to develop the farmlands into vineyards, which in turn produced exceptional fruit, as well as a number of Australia’s icon wines.
This Cabernet Sauvignon is full bodied and finely textured, offering layers of blackcurrant and dark berry fruit framed by savoury oak spice. The long, flowing palate shows depth, balance and generosity, finsihing with impressive persistence.

Lifted and expressive, revealing aromas of cassis, blackberry and dark plum intertwined with cedar, dried herbs and subtle graphite. The aroma displays classic Coonawarra character while maintaining vibrant fruit definition.
The palate is medium to full-bodied with concentrated blackcurrant and dark berry flavours supported by fine tannins and balanced acidity. Hints of cocoa and savoury spice emerge through the mid-palate before a long, polished finish completes the wine with elegance and persistence.
★★★★★ A ripe Cabernet Sauvignon delivering varietal purity, depth and classic Coonawarra character.

This is immediately appealing on the nose, featuring blackcurrant, cured meat, fennel, vanilla, and fine oak aromas. The palate delivers terrific weight and a silky flow, wonderfully framed by a fleshy texture and chalky tannins, leading to a persistent, robust finish. At its best: now to 2036.

The Reschke family has a long history in the Coonawarra region, dating back to 1906. In the 1980s, they turned to vineyards, not unwise given their location. The fruit here was from the excellent 2024 vintage. A percentage of the wine was retained on skins for a period for tannin management and to enhance the colour. Maturation was in French oak hogsheads. Opaque maroon in colour with a dark crimson rim, we see good spicy oak integration immediately evident. The nose exhibits aromas of chocolate, plums, blackberries, mulberries and licorice. The structure is seamless. A medium weight style with a line of gentle and yet vibrant acidity running the full journey, the wine finishes with fine tannins. It should drink nicely over the next six to eight years.
